The realm of

CASTLETON

A Jewel of the Borderlands

Nestled in the green lands where the rugged highlands of Scotland meet the rolling hills of England lies Castleton, a small yet thriving border kingdom that has long served as a bridge between two great nations. Known for its towering stone keep, bustling markets, vibrant harbor, and rich legacy of arts and expression. Castleton is as much a crossroads of trade and culture as it is a kingdom steeped in legend.

A Land of Prosperity, Magic, and Mystery

In the year 1569, during the golden age of Queen Elizabeth I’s reign, Castleton has flourished as a beacon of art, knowledge, commerce, and diplomacy. Its position on the border has made it a crucial ally to the English crown, acting as a buffer between the sometimes-contentious Scots and the English Court.

Yet, Castleton is more than a mere political stronghold. Its townsfolk tell tales of magical and mythical beings that dwell in the ancient Woodlands on its Eastern Border. This enchanted realm is believed to shape the very spirit of Castleton, inspiring imagination and filling the land with an aura of wonder and enchantment.

A Kingdom at Crossroads

Under the watchful eye of its steward, Jeffrey Hiller, Castleton has become a favored retreat for the nobility of England and Scotland alike. With Queen Elizabeth’s court often visiting to escape the intrigues of London, Castleton has earned the title of “The Queen’s Sanctuary.”

Now, Castleton finds itself at the center of a new drama. Queen Elizabeth, famously unmarried and childless, has attracted the attention of kings, lords, and suitors from across Europe and beyond. Rumors swirl in the market squares and taverns of Castleton: will this be the year the Virgin Queen takes a consort? Or is the courtship a mere distraction to bolster England’s alliances and secure its borders?

The suitors bring with them gifts, promises, and hidden agendas. Among the visiting dignitaries, one might find a Scottish laird offering peace between their peoples, a Spanish prince whose true loyalty lies with the Vatican, or a regal Sultan from the Ottoman Empire seeking to win favor with his mysterious inventions.

An Invitation to Adventure

As the Renaissance Faire unfolds, the kingdom of Castleton invites all who enter its gates to become part of its story. Will you play the role of a merchant hawking wares to the visiting nobles? A knight proving their courage in the grand joust? A bard weaving songs of love and longing? Perhaps you’ll find your place in the lively Romani camp, discovering fortune-tellers and fire dancers, or join a band of swashbuckling pirates in their quest for treasure and adventure. In Castleton, the line between history and legend blurs, and every guest has a part to play in shaping the destiny of this magical kingdom.
